The AFCEA International, established in 1946, is a nonprofit membership association serving the military, government, industry, and academia as an ethical forum for advancing professional knowledge and relationships in the fields of communications, IT, intelligence, and global security.
The Rocky Mountain chapter of AFCEA has a large membership from all walks of life, who benefit from the knowledge, access, influence, and contacts of the Colorado Springs Space and Homeland Defense community. The chapter hosts nationally recognized forums, such as the “Defending America CYBERSPACE Symposium” for military and industry being held at the Broadmoor Hotel in February 2011. Over 1300 attendees will meet, viewing over 100 industry and government agency exhibits, and exchanging ideas in open discussions of requirements and technological development with other members.
One of AFCEA’s core values is to support the advancement of American science and technological growth. To this end, the local chapter grants college scholarships to military members and high school students embarking on careers in scientific and engineering disciplines. Each year, the Chapter also supports the Pikes Peak Regional Science Fair and such venues as the Challenger Learning Center of Colorado Springs with volunteers, grants, and awards for exceptional performance by students and teachers in technological fields.
