KCME General Manager
Jeanna Wearing has been General Manager of 88.7 KCME-FM since 1995. She is a Colorado native whose family ties to Colorado date from the early 1850s. Even as a child she knew that her devotion to the fine and applied arts would lead her toward a career in service to classical music. While still in her teens, Ms. Wearing was a winner in the regional Metropolitan Opera Auditions, where the judges and audience voted her "The Most Promising Talent" of the competition. But life can hold many surprises; all of her studies and experiences prepared her, not for a singing career as she had once thought, but rather for a career in fine arts broadcasting.
Ms. Wearing has hosted her own TV show in Fort Worth, and prior to joining KCME, was host of Masters of Music at KPOF in Denver. She has also won critical praise for her concert narrations and lectures. She has narrated the Children's Concert for the Colorado Symphony and performed Rutter's Brother Heinrich's Christmas at St. John's Cathedral in Denver. She performed Walton's Façade with the Academy-in-the-Wilderness Chamber Orchestra as well as the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, and lectured for the Colorado Symphony, the Boulder Philharmonic and the Artists Series Concerts at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
